Originally created for the Year of the Metal Ox in 2021, this piece explores recovery of those traumatic years. The close-up cow nose is that of a minotaur, and the patterns of the paper are the best representation of a labyrinth that my palette would supply me. This is a deeply personal piece for me, and represents not only trying to navigate the shit show of the pandemic years and the time after the loss of my mother, but also what it means to be a creator and having the social role/pressure/responsibilities of a so-called ‘thought leader.’
