Tiffany Miller Russell - Regrowth - Cut Paper Sculpture

Regrowth

6" x 6"
Framed to 12" x 12"
Giclees Available

Eight Spotted Skimmer- Libellula forensis,
and Equisetum

Regrowth is created from 'recycled' materials - paper horsetail segments and background collage - from the piece Life at the Bottom. Only the dragonfly was created specifically for this piece. Designing a composition around limited resources presented a unique challenge and outcome.

I did a little research into the symbolism of dragonflies, hoping they'd represent rebirth and fit my 'Regrowth' and recycling theme. Not quite- but I enjoy what I found, and I think it fits the process just as well. As a symbol of self-awareness, Dragonfly invites us to look deeper, probing the surface of the water as he skims.
