A Well-Behaved Beast

Mandrill - Mandrillus sphinx
What is a well-behaved beast? Who judges a beast's standards of behavior? Is it well behaved when it sits quietly and obediently, fitting into a box of convenience? Or is it well behaved when it rejects conventions and acts as a wild animal is meant to act in the wild? This sculpture is from the series 'Formal Wild' exploring patterns and color of the animal kingdom. This series also serves to contemplate formality of wildlife - it's source or illusion thereof, and the juxtaposition of the two terms at opposite extremes - formal, and wild.
